Why did humans, not octopuses, come to dominate the world? Scientists have found that the reason is not lower intelligence, but the lack of intergenerational knowledge transfer. A baby octopus has to figure everything out from scratch on its own. Sometimes it feels like we, in today’s rapidly changing VUCA world, are becoming little octopuses ourselves.
In this talk, I will focus on key ITSM concepts that seem to be fading away amid the wave of DevOps, AI, and other recent trends.
Practical experience from projects such as DORA and NIS2 compliance shows that IT service management and cybersecurity can be built on solid foundations and well-thought-out, proven principles, principles that our predecessors, who established itSMF Czech Republic and Slovakia 20 years ago, lived by, but which we may have forgotten, or even abandoned. We will explore how to apply these principles effectively in today’s environment.
Let’s not be like octopuses.
