ČSOB is a leading Slovak bank with more than 50 years of presence. Its name is an abbreviation of the official name „Československá obchodná banka“, which dates back to the times of the former Czechoslovakia. In 1964, the state participated in the establishment of ČSOB through its majority shareholder – Štátna banka Československá. In the then Czechoslovakia, ČSOB was the only bank that provided foreign trade financing and supervised foreign currency loans from international markets. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989, ČSOB started to provide its services not only to the then foreign trade companies, but also to newly emerging businesses and individuals. The product expansion was accompanied by an increase in the number of points of sale/branches.

Today, ČSOB is one of the largest Slovak banks and, thanks to the other members of the ČSOB Financial Group, provides a wide portfolio of products and services to retail clients, SMEs, the corporate segment, and private clients. Its portfolio of products and services includes mortgages, current accounts, consumer loans, savings and investment products, electronic banking, socially responsible funds, securities management and custody, life and non-life insurance products, as well as leasing products and professional consulting.
