Richard Horton

Richard has decades of experience working in service management, in both private and public sectors. This has ranged from being part of in house technical teams to managing suppliers in a completely outsourced environment. He is currently the Head of IT Service Management with NIHR RDNCC (who coordinate health research – COVID vaccine trials are the obvious example).

Richard has been actively involved in itSMF since 2010. From running a special interest group he moved to the UK Board where he was a Director for 8 years with a particular interest in governance and volunteer groups. He is now the Chair of itSMF International, but still contributes as a volunteer in the UK, running events and writing blogs.

As Chair of itSMF International, Richard is looking to help increase the level of cross-chapter collaboration. With a number of new chapters starting up, including in the Balkans, there is plenty of opportunity.

Richard enjoys literature and music that has come out of central Europe, and has a particular affinity with the music of Janacek. He will take visiting Bratislava as an opportunity to read some Slovak literature.
